Our Kaka‘ako Events

Our Kaka‘ako is an urban neighborhood owned by Kamehameha Schools. Along with recurring tasks like web updates and social media management, Olomana develops and executes community events connecting to the area’s unique urban and native Hawaiian culture. Some of these events include Keiki Street Fest, ‘Ohana Stargazing, Mālama ‘Āina Community Cleanup, and Honolulu Night Market. Below is some of the work I’ve done for Honolulu Night Market and Mālama ‘Āina

Honolulu Night Market Presented by American Savings Bank

Master Design

Honolulu Night Market is a semi-annual, flagship event for Our Kaka‘ako, a community by Kamehameha Schools.

Night Market is supported by multiple sponsors, and many of them had to be properly represented within the collateral. American Savings Bank was the presenting sponsor. This event also featured performances from Festpac, which also received a callout post.

The master design (right) was created by Jennifer Acosta. I adapted the event design and branding for the webpage (below) and eventbrite, for multiple social media posts and email.

Malama ‘Aina Community Cleanup

Though it’s a smaller event than flagships like Keiki Street Fest or Honolulu Night Market, Mālama ‘Āina Community Cleanup captures the spirit of Kaka‘ako and care for the land in an urban space. The general focus is to pick up trash around the area, and in order to bring a stronger cultural connection, Olomana partnered with Hui Kū Maoli Ola to provide free native plants that volunteers could take home.

For recurring events like this, OURK and Olomana have a set master design that we refresh with a new palette every year. I was asked to take point on the master design update for the event and pitch the color variations to the client, who landed on this yellow + green palette. I collaborated with other members of our creative team to finish the webpage, and create the print collateral, which I finalized and sent to print. For social media, I created our Save the Date post and a slate for use on Instagram Stories.
